Community Hub at Drovers

Spent an afternoon over at Age UK's Drover Centre as part of their Community Networking - Services to Older People. An opportunity to meet other voluntary organisations working in the sector. Drovers is in the process of becoming a Community Hub working with all age groups in the community as well as older people

Christmas Concerts

Really enjoy doing our Christmas concerts. We find most audiences generally don't like doing too many carols, preferring the more secular Christmas songs like Jingle Bells, Rudolph etc. But the choir at Alsen Day Centre especially like to sing carols. Either way we're happy because we like both. One of the highlights of our Christmas will be playing the Islington Arts and Media School (IAMS) Christmas dinner for pensioners which we do each year. This year will be on the 9th December at the Andover Centre as the school is in the middle of building works.

Tea Dances at West Library

Last Tuesday of every month in the newly refurbished basement of the West Library in Bridgeman Road between Caledonian Road and Thornhill Square. Free tea and cake, live music and a lot of people who know how to dance. 2.00-4.00pm. You can just turn up - no need to book.

We're not doing December and will be there again on Tuesday, January 31st 2012.

New Funding for Music, Movement and Mobility

We've just received a grant from Awards for All to provide Music, Movement and Mobility Classes. We will be at the Expert Patient's Programme meetings at the Town Hall talking about this service on the 16th December.

This includes singing as well as movement, so whatever kind of class you would like let us know. The main thing is to exercise something! You would be amazed at how much is going on when having a good sing notwithstanding all the little movements, hand claps and quizzes. And the great thing is the movements can be adapted for people of all abilities.
